Ladakh in 2002
The once desolate roads of Ladakh (shot in 2002)

Over the past few years Ladakh has become a very popular destination for adventure travel. Thousands from the world-over come every year to this land of unprecedented beauty not just for motorcycling, but for cycling, trekking, rafting and mountaineering. The challenges this land offers finds parallels in very few other parts of the world.

Believe it or not, in just over 10 years, Ladakh from being an unknown land has now become the number one tourist destination in India and ranks number 10 in Asia. This influx of tourism has increased the number of vehicles on the once lonely roads of Ladakh.

A first timer riding to Ladakh today would not realize that in 2002, one would not encounter any oncoming traffic at all. The roads were as desolate as the lonely rider wanted them to be. And to bring back the same experience, the same feeling, we announce our revised 2013 ride schedule to Ladakh.

Tsomo Ri Ri
The pristine blue Tsomo Ri Ri

In the new ride flow, we have introduced two new sectors – the Wari-la pass at 17,400 feet and the 12 mile long Tsomo Ri Ri lake. On the Wari-la route, you would be lucky if you encounter any vehicles at all for over 60 miles. The new tours for 2013 now cover a whopping 9 high altitude passes and four high altitude lakes in two weeks. But the best part is that the schedule is not rushed on any given day. Even though the new itinerary stresses our logistics, we know that the experiences we will share will more than make up for it.

The road less travelled
On the road less travelled

It is our belief that if there is an option between a highway and the road less travelled, taking the lesser used road will not only expose one to raw nature and wilderness, but gives you the Ride of Your Life. And if that’s the motto with which we plan our individual travels, why not apply them to our tours as well? As motorcyclists, if we enjoyed it, then it will surely be an amazing experience for the motorcyclists who come for our tours; especially since the route runs through the highest roads in the world.

After all, the ride is within us. We create the ride and give life and meaning to it. We think that these changes to the route make it a perfect 14 day ride plan for anyone wanting to ride to Ladakh on a motorcycle.

We have also updated the 2013 dates for One Crazy Ride, our 21-day tour to Arunachal Pradesh. The present route is a corker and we also don’t want to bypass the hanging bridges, so the ride flow is left untouched for this tour.

So now what are you waiting for? Check out our 2013 tours –
