Day 2Sep 6Tuesday

Manali to Jispa

Manali to Jispa

In the morning we begin the ride on the world's highest road - the Manali-Leh highway. We head north from Manali towards the newly-constructed Atal Tunnel. This 9 Km long tunnel is the longest tunnel over 10,000 feet altitude in the world. Exiting into the Chandra valley, you notice the changing landscape, which gets more rugged as the mountains get taller. Riding along the mighty Chenab river in the valley, we arrive at Tandi, at the confluence of the Chandra and Bagha rivers, from where the Chenab begins. We continue the ride along the Bagha river, passing small villages along the way to Jispa, a quaint village nestled among majestic mountains, where we spend the night at a hotel.

Day 3Sep 7Wednesday

Jispa to Padum

Jispa to Padum

Today you ride from the lush green landscape to the stark moonscape that Ladakh is famous for. Instead of continuing along the Manali-Leh highway, we take a new route made possible by the Border Roads Organization, which crosses over Shinkun La to enter Zanskar valley from the south. Mostly consisting of dirt roads with steep inclines and declines, your riding skills and your resolve will be put to the test today as you ride on some of the most desolate and stark landscapes you've ever seen. After a day filled with adventure, we arrive at Padum, the capital of Zanskar valley, to spend the night at a basic hotel.

Day 4Sep 8Thursday

Rest in Padum

Rest in Padum

Today, we spend the day visiting the stunning Drang Drung glacier near Pensi La, a high altitude pass that separates Zanskar valley from Suru valley in the north. You may also visit some of the beautiful monasteries in Padum, or spend the day eating Sea buckthorn berries on the banks of the beautiful Zanskar river.

Day 5Sep 9Friday

Padum to Leh

Padum to Leh

Another day of adventure riding is in store for you today, as we head towards Leh via Zangla, the site of an ancient palace dating back to the 17th-century. Riding on dirt roads with some loose sand on steep inclines and declines is the name of the game today, as you cross 4 high-altitude passes before sighting tarmac towards the end of the day. You ride on smooth tarmac roads along the mighty Indus river to reach Leh, where we spend the night at a hotel.

Day 6Sep 10Saturday

Leh sightseeing

Today you take a breather from the gruelling ride you have had from Manali. Today, you are free to explore various parts of the Leh city, like the Namgyal Palace, Tibetan market, Shanti Stupa, and the various monasteries.

Day 7Sep 11Sunday

Leh to Pangong tso lake

Leh to Pangong tso lake

Today you ride through the third highest motorable pass in the world, the Chang La pass at 17,586 feet. After the descent from Chang La, the magical plains of Changthang open up. But the real treat is the 135 km long Pangong Tso lake. Today, you stay on the banks of the beautiful Pangong Tso.

Day 8Sep 12Monday

Pangong tso lake to Sumur

Pangong tso lake to Sumur

Today we ride on one of the remotest route of Ladakh made especially for the Indian Army, which connects Pangong lake to Nubra Valley bypassing Leh. This route was washed away in a cloud burst in 2010. Parts of it are still not rebuilt. With various stream crossings, riding on dry riverbeds, smooth tarmac and switchbacks, it truly is a religious experience for an adventure rider.

Day 9Sep 13Tuesday

Sumur to Leh

Sumur to Leh

Today, you take the road to the highest motorable pass in the world - Khardung La - at 18,380 feet. In spite of the altitude, today you ride on some of the smoothest roads so far and the landscape also becomes grand. After a steep and tough ascend and celebrations at Khardung La pass, you descend back towards Leh.

Day 10Sep 14Wednesday

Leh to Kargil

Leh to Kargil

Today you ride on the smooth Leh-Srinagar highway. Lunch is at the ancient Lamayuru monastery. Post which, you ride over two scenic passes, Namika La (12,139 feet) and Fotu La (13,478 feet), before reaching the famous town of Kargil.

Day 11Sep 15Thursday

Kargil to Srinagar

Kargil to Srinagar

The historic road from Kargil to Srinagar is a delight to ride on, with majestic views, green villages and raging rivers. The real test of the ride, Zoji La pass at 11,575 feet, overlooks the beautiful mountains of Sonmarg on one side and the high altitude Ladakh region on the other. The constant landslides at the pass mean that we ride through mud and broken roads. Tonight, we PARTY on a houseboat in the beautiful Dal lake.

Day 12Sep 16Friday

Leave from Srinagar
